Halymenia durvillei (Dragon’s Breath)

If you want to add macroalgae to your Blue-lit reef tank, Halymenia durvillei, better known as Dragon’s Breath is a showstopper. Its long, wispy, flame-like fronds glow under blue lighting and display stunning shades of red and orange.

Unlike many macroalgae, Dragon’s Breath thrives even under blue reef lighting, making it a perfect bridge between traditional reef and macroalgae tanks. It loves high flow, we often attach it directly to return nozzles so it can fully extend and sway like underwater fire.
