The Maculatus Frogfish, commonly called the Warty Frogfish, is a favorite for good reason. This quirky little ambush predator has loads of personality and incredible camouflage. Each individual sports a unique color pattern - often orange, yellow, white, or mottled with darker patches - and can even change color over time to match its surroundings.
Care Information:
Diet: Eating frozen Silversides; also accepts live saltwater mollies and saltwater grass shrimp
Quarantine: Held for a minimum of 14 days before shipping to ensure health and feeding consistency
Size: Approx. 3.5 inches
Tank Size: Suitable for 5 gallons or less while small; move to 10+ gallons as it grows
Habitat: Provide plenty of rockwork and/or macroalgae for perching and camouflage
Temperament: Predatory; keep singly or with other frogfish of similar size and type only if ample hiding space is available
Experience Level: Intermediate to advanced
Tank Type: Best kept in species-only setups or with carefully selected, non-aggressive tankmates
